Meet Blessed Hope Community Church:

Blessed Hope is an independent non-denominational church that was established in 2005. In 2019 we successfully merged with another church in town and underwent a name change and rebranding. We strive to be an evangelical, Bible-oriented family of Christians. We exist to bring a hurting world the hope of Jesus.

Job Description:

FEED THE FLOCK

The Senior Pastor has a responsibility to feed the flock of Blessed Hope by ensuring that God’s Word is effectively taught and by admonishing Blessed Hope’s covenant members and those who come under our wing to live a life according to the Word (Acts 20:20, 27, 31; 1 Timothy 3:2). He also has a responsibility to oversee the care of temporal needs of Blessed Hope’s members and those ministered to (Acts 2:44-45, 1 Peter 5:2, James 5:14).

Responsibilities:

• Provide primary pulpit teaching that effectively communicates the Word, inspires the soul, and motivates a change in lives; teach in various other venues as needed.
• Preaching is Biblically grounded and Christ-centered.
• Provide primary direction in determining sermon and/or teaching topics.
• Provide teaching, guidance, and recommendations to equip believers for ministry.
• Provide counsel to covenant members and attendees as needed, including pre-marital.
• Oversee the systematic, regular visitation of shut-ins, and members who are hospitalized.
• Meet with those who request specific prayer.
• Pray regularly, earnestly, and faithfully for the sick and hurting, covenant members, attendees, and the ministries/activities of Blessed Hope.
• Intentionally engage in the lives of the members of Blessed Hope.

LEAD THE FLOCK

The Senior Pastor is the primary leader and vision-caster who has a responsibility to lead the flock by continually seeking God’s will for Blessed Hope and clearly communicating direction and vision to its leaders and members (1 Timothy 3:4-5; 1 Peter 5:2). He must also be able to capably manage the day-to-day affairs of the Church with assistance from the other Elders (1 Timothy 5:17).

Responsibilities:

• Provides primary leadership, direction, and motivation for the ministry of the church.
• A strategic thinker, able to cast a compelling vision that unifies the body and reinforces the mission and purpose of the church.
• Promote prayerful development, passionate sharing, and contagious spreading of the vision of Blessed Hope.
• Emulate Christ-like living so as to demonstrate a life to be followed.
• Assist in the development of policies for church administration, and be responsible for implementation.
• Direct and manage staff on a day-to-day basis, including regular staff meetings, coordinate staff training, staff recruitment, staff reviews, and budget oversight.
• Provide/oversee regular and relevant leadership training for the Elders and the key church leaders.
  
  

PROTECT THE FLOCK

The Senior Pastor has a responsibility to protect the flock at Blessed Hope from false teaching, un-Christlike behavior, demonic influence, and worldly deception both from within and from outside the Church (Acts 20:28; Titus 1:9).

Responsibilities:

• Maintain close accountability and relationship among the Elder Board, Ministry Team Leaders, and Financial Officers
• Provide proactive teaching and admonishment both in and out of the pulpit, through various means available to covenant members and attendees
• Provide and facilitate conflict resolution amongst members, especially amongst the Elders
• Practice consistent and biblical church discipline when sinful behavior takes place
  
  

Education & Experience:

5-10 years of pastoral experience preferred
Bachelors Degree

What it's like to live in Vinton, Iowa:

Blessed Hope Community Church is located in the small rural community of Vinton, IA. Vinton’s population is about 5,000 people, however, as the county seat, we also serve surrounding communities in our county. We are a very family-oriented community with great schools, our own movie theater, and an award-winning hospital. In 2021 our parks and rec department completed a big project and we are now home to the longest glow-in-the-dark trail in the United States. Vinton really has just about everything you need here in town, but the nearest Chick-Fil-A is about a 30-minute drive. We truly encompass the phrase “Midwest nice”.
