Worship Leader or Pastor (full-time, salaried)

Since the summer of 2021, we’ve been embarking on a season of revitalization and opportunity as a church. After a couple of years of persevering through body life and a pandemic without a lead pastor, we hired someone in his early 40s with experience planting, leading and growing a church. Since last summer our elder team has retooled our mission and vision as a church body and begun to reimagine what it looks like to be on mission together as a church.

We feel we are well-positioned to reach the people around us. Sonoma County is one of the least churched populations (per capita) in the United States. Our history of generosity toward the community reaches well over a century; our leadership is healthy and possesses decades of seasoned maturity, our people are fervent to reach the city with the good news about Jesus; our giving is consistent; our five-acre property located in a West Petaluma neighborhood (the only gospel-centered church on the west side of the city) has recently undergone remodeling without any existing mortgage; and our accounts demonstrate financial security over the next few years.  

The Worship Leader/Pastor position is for someone who has a passion for the church and discipling the community in worship. They are a worshiper at the core of who they are, they are spiritually hungry, and have a desire to continually grow. They will also require some organizational ability.

The Worship Leader/Pastor is a leader both on and off stage and their love and commitment to Jesus is evident in their manner of living and leading. This person has a gift to shepherd the community alongside the lead pastor and elders. As a church situated in a heavily unchurched culture, it is important that this person uses seeker-sensible language and methods to lead and disciple people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Leadership

• Develop other musicians and leaders.
• Oversee worship for all our gatherings, which is primarily Sunday mornings.
• Work in collaboration with other ministries to develop a worship culture in all our gathering spaces.
• Pursue growth through having a teachable spirit.
• Work with lead pastor to shape Sunday mornings. He welcomes adjustments and additional rhythms (liturgical or otherwise) to help our people pursue Jesus.

Volunteer Development

• Recruit musicians and spotlight opportunities to utilize musical gifts in the church.
• Oversee the onboarding process. Interviews, auditions and coaching.
• Build multiple teams to be on rotation. Raise other leaders who can lead at your level.
• Coordinate and lead regular music team gatherings to disciple, cast vision and build relationships.
• Care and develop. Regular check ins with the volunteers

Administration

• Our church is not yet large enough for any of us to be specialists exclusively at this time. - Thus, responsibilities for this position will include some weekly administrative help in the office and to the lead pastor.
• Resource and support all volunteers.
• Schedule all volunteers and other ministry partners in advance to ensure we have appropriately rostered gatherings of worship.
• Refine and develop systems and processes of planning and growing of the ministry.
• Accountable for technical development of both the worship and A/V teams.
• Organize weekly rehearsals.

• From $65k  (negotiable depending on experience)
