The role of the Associate Pastor is to work in harmony with the Senior Pastor, have a firm grasp on the purpose, mission, and vision of Second Baptist, and align with key leadership teams with its mission. The Associate Pastor of Youth and Families will work alongside other staff and lay leaders to carry out this mission as a member of a team. This includes assisting with weekly service planning and design, periodic speaking, coordination of outside speakers for special events, and mission leadership and coordination.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the Pastor in the overall vision casting and leadership of the church’s teaching and weekend service planning, design, and execution. Develop goals and objectives in youth ministry that are in line with strategic plan.
- Serve as the primary (lead) teacher to the youth; including, but not limited to, Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings.
- Work with and develop lay leaders to minister to youth and children.
- Lead in building relationships with parents and/or guardians of youth and children.
- Provide the leadership to encourage participation by all youth in the ministry of Second Baptist and her mission.
- Be available to preach in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
- Assist in visitation to nursing homes, hospitals, homebound, etc.
- Be available to assist with Second Baptist Christian Academy by teaching chapel, building relationships with students and their families, mentoring students.
- Help organize, attend, and lead in the church’s mission efforts regionally, nationally, and internationally when possible.
- Maintain a ministry presence on Social Media outlets.
- All other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor.
