Pastoral Elder

Job Description:

First Baptist Church of Waldoboro, Maine is a congregation of biblically based, elder led, group of Christian believers, who seek to worship our Lord and Savior.  We strive to build up one another in spiritual growth and reach the world with the message of forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ.

We are focused on the gospel and the inerrant Word of God and how it applies to our daily lives both inside and outside of church.

We are a rural church located in the heart of the Mid Coast region.  We minister to approximately 160 people regularly with a good mixture of older and younger families.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Pastoral Elder, who is a servant leader, authentic in preaching, grounded in biblical truth and who has a heart of a shepherd.  He should recognize and adhere to the biblical qualifications found in Titus and I Timothy 3.

General Qualifications:

• Has mutual accountability with the elder board.
• Be innovative; willing to be creative under unforeseen circumstances.
• A speaker committed to a grace filled ministry.
• Works well with an elder board and staff.
• Works alongside the Pastor of Discipleship and Outreach
• Lives a lifestyle that honors God.

General Responsibilities:

• Works as a team with the Elder Board
• Inspires the congregation and promotes a deeper walk with Christ.
• Support and help develop the worship service.
• Embraces and strives to balance the 5 purposes of our church, which include: worship, service, discipleship, evangelism and fellowship.
• Discipleship of Elders, Deacons and staff.
• Oversees Sunday worship service and special events
• Understands his role as an undershepherd and servant leader
• Agrees and upholds the Constitution of the First Baptist Church of Waldoboro
• Active accountability from outside of pastoring church.
