The Children’s Ministry Assistant Director is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and training of staff for ACAC’s After School Program (ASP) and Summer Day Camp (SDC). The Assistant Director will set enrollment targets, plan and design overall programming,
curate and/or develop curriculum for the ASP, SCD, and mid-week programs in collaboration with the CM Assistant Director – Academic Focus staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry
- Direct programming for the following Children’s Ministry (CM) Outreach programs: After School Place, Summer Day Camp, and mid-week programming under direction of CM Outreach Director.
- Recruit, train, and appreciate ASP, SDC, and mid-week volunteers and staff.
- Disciple volunteers for ministry
- Support duties of CM Outreach. Director as needed.
- Pray with congregants, staff, and volunteers as needed.
- Provide one-on-one and group spiritual direction.
- Teach the Bible.
- Manage Pittsburgh Public School (PPS) partnership.
Communication
- Meet weekly with the CM Outreach Director to discuss programming opportunities and events.
- Work with Creative Arts Department to design and print all CM communication.
Administration
- Operate within yearly budget guidelines.
- Use Church Management Database (Planning Center Online) to execute volunteer clearances, student enrollments, and weekly attendance for Children’s Ministries.
- Ensure compliance to rules set forth by Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and complete all required monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for program participation.
Team Building
- Assist CM in events such as Family nights or volunteer appreciation breakfasts (any events that are “all hands-on deck”).
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Required Qualifications
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Model spiritual leadership and lifestyle consistent with the beliefs of ACAC.
- Attend services at ACAC and become a member of ACAC church within 12 months of employment.
- Recent management/leadership experience in professional or volunteer setting.
- Handle confidential situations and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability and experience to communicate effectively with parents, outside organizations, local school administrators and counselors.
- Have financial integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children.
- Prior ministry experience.
- Knowledge of computer systems and databases or the ability to learn and adapt quickly.?
Time Requirements
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10 am – 6 pm (September - May)
- Wednesdays 12 pm – 9 pm (September - May)
- Monday thru Friday 8 am - 4 pm (June - August)
- Occasional weekend shifts to cover team vacations or large all-church events
