Located an hour from Times Square, Living Faith is a large and amazing church on Long Island.  We are blessed with a staff of 20+ talented and committed individuals who give their best to make a difference.  Being just east of Queens, we serve in a diverse county of 1.4 million people.  In this fast-paced environment, change and reaching people are in our DNA.

In 2010, we changed our location and name.  After that, we acquired additional property and added an office building to make room for expanding ministries.  When COVID hit, we added staff to create an online presence that has now become a major part of our identity, ministry, and outreach.  Today, over 500 adults are involved in small groups and 1,500+ worship onsite or online each week at Living Faith.

Now we are looking for the right person to join our senior staff as we continue to reach people and see them become disciples.  Strong preaching and teaching skills are a must. In addition, they must have experience managing other paid staff and be comfortable working in a large, multi-staff environment.  Our next Discipleship Pastor needs to be a leader and initiator with the skills and experience to be part of our senior staff team.  Also, they should sense God's call and be excited to serve in the New York area.

Please note the position includes a compensation and benefits package that reflects the experience required and cost of living in the New York area.  As a result, only those who meet the requirements will be considered.  However, we are willing to tweak some aspects of the position based on the skills and gifting of the person.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

TITLE:   Pastor of Discipleship

STATUS:  Full-time

SUPERVISOR:  Senior Pastor

DATE:  February 2022

Position Summary:

The Pastor of Discipleship ensures we grow disciples who learn God’s Word, live their faith, and impact the world for Jesus Christ.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead an effective assimilation ministry as part of a discipleship process
• Oversee age-group ministry expansion and development
• Supervise and develop age-group staff directors (Children, Students, etc.)
• Provide intentional adult discipleship opportunities
• Coordinate adult discipleship plans with LFCC GroupLife Pastor
• Prioritize evangelism in all related ministries
• Integrate, support, and guide Men’s & Women’s Ministries
• Direct multi-faceted Prayer Ministry
• Provide care and pastoral counseling as needed
• Oversee recruitment of leaders and volunteers in related areas
• Assist with leadership and staff training and support
• Preach and teach in main services and other venues as scheduled and requested
• Serve as part of the senior staff team
• Provide senior level decisions in the absence of or in conjunction with senior staff
• Develop and oversee appropriate ministry budgets

Requirements:

• Evidence of personal relationship with Christ and call to vocational ministry
• Agreement with the doctrine and vision of Living Faith Christian Church
• Passionate about engaging and leading people to become disciples of the living God
• Personal and family life reflective of a strong commitment to Christ
• Meet the biblical requirements of a pastor/elder
• MDiv. or above from theologically like-minded school highly desirable
• Undergraduate degree and agreement to pursue higher theological education if requested
• Able to multi-task and called to serve in New York/Long Island environment
• Strong people skills and detail-oriented
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience serving in large church, multi-staff environment
• Significant experience teaching and preaching in mid to larger church setting
