PURPOSE

Oversee the Preaching and Teaching at Fresh Encounter Church

 

PRIMARY GOAL

To help guide people into a growing personal relationship with Christ and into a healthy dynamic community. This person will build the infrastructure for spiritual growth, discipleship, and relational connection for the adults who attend Fresh Encounter Church.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  •   Provide leadership to the church that protects the headship of Christ, the authority of the Bible, and the health of the body
  •   Responsible to the to the leadership team
  •   Work with the other department heads to achieve an integrated approach to ministry
  •   Supervise the adult ministry and discipleship

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •   Preaching and Teaching – Provide Biblical and engaging sermons weekly as part of the regular worship service at Fresh Encounter Church. Also, if needed, provide teaching for small groups or Bible studies.
  •   Church Systems – Oversee and manage church systems
  •   Spiritual Formation Process – Set and establish a clear pathway for adults to follow as we point them to spiritual maturity and equip them for the ministry of the church. This process should address new believers to long-time Christians and should cover doctrine and knowledge, as well as life issues, emotional health, and obedience.
  •   General Pastoral Ministry - Connect with the people of the church to encourage them in their time of need, including visitation, regular office hours, and counseling. 



KEY CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  •   A humble person.
  •   A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate relationship with Him that is evident to all who know him.
  •   Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle that complies with the Biblical qualifications as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:7-9.
  •   Agreement with Fresh Encounter doctrine, mission, vision, values
  •   Relational personality who loves people
  •   Competent in organization, administration and interpersonal skills 
  •   Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people

About Fresh Encounter Church

Fresh Encounter Church is an exciting, contemporary church in Southwest Iowa. Fresh Encounter was started in 2005 by a group of families seeking to worship God together without the burdens of denominational traditions and church policy. Those families laid the groundwork for a worship environment where believers could be united on the essential tenets of Christian faith, while being free to draw their own biblically informed conclusions on doctrines that have been debated by faithful believers for centuries. Throughout its history, Fresh Encounter has met in a coffee shop type environment and worshiped with high quality contemporary music. We hold to the authority of the Bible as we emphasize God’s grace to a hurting world. 

Our core values are expressed in these four words: Encounter, Explore, Connect, Restore. We desire that everyone will Encounter the true God of the Bible, and to Explore who He is and who we are in Him. We believe it is vital to Connect with other people on this journey, and even more important than that is our foundational Connection to God. It is God who Restores us into a new creation and He calls us to work alongside Him in the work of Restoration of broken people. Our goal for our worship services is that people will feel free to come as they are, but through the power of God they will leave changed.
