Associate Pastor of Music & Worship | Calvary Baptist Church

The Associate Pastor of Music & Worship will plan, administer, coordinate, supervise and evaluate a comprehensive and active Music and Worship Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. The ministry exists to lead and equip the saints to use their lives and bodies to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

 

 

Music Ministry Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, provide for, plan, implement, equip, oversee, staff and lead all corporate worship experiences. This includes:

1. Adult Choir

2. “Core” Instrumental – Piano, keyboard, drums, auxiliary percussion, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and bass.

3. Praise Teams

4. Technical Arts – Sound, visual, lighting

Provide leadership, oversight, and equipping for special interest groups participating and leading in worship. Hands on leadership may be delegated to other staff or volunteers.

This includes:

1. Children’s Worship and choirs

2. Student Praise Band

3. Sonshine Choir – Senior adults

4. Calvary Ringers – Handbell choir

Provide leadership and equipping for annual events when music and corporate worship are included.

This includes:

1. Vacation Bible School

2. Christmas Season Events

3. Concerts

4. Non-Seasonal Worship Events

5. Mission Endeavors

Provide leadership, equipping and personal involvement in the community consistent with a everyday missionary lifestyle.

Provide pastoral care and staff support especially when there are music/worship needs.

This includes:

1. Funeral needs and support for families during times of grief

2. Wedding needs including music direction and officiating.  When officiating a wedding,

3. there is appropriate premarital counseling.

Assist the Senior Pastor to fulfill his day-to-day operational duties when he is absent.

Personal Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer and meditation.

2. Maintain proper priorities in your home and be the spiritual leader to your spouse and children, if married.

3. Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.

4. Financially support the works of ministries of Calvary by faithfully giving at least 10% of your gross income.  Maintain wise stewardship measures over the remaining 90%.

 

General Responsibilities:

1. Communicate with the church through communication tools like weekly bulletin articles, email, calendar of events, etc.

2. Participate in and/or coordinate the search for support staff members directly related to this position.

3. Give leadership and direction to the program coordination of the church through the participation of administrative and ministerial staff meetings.

4. Follow and adhere to the policies and procedures of Calvary Baptist Church.

5. Perform duties as needed and assigned related to the pastoral care of this congregation.

6. Prepare an annual budget for church budget line items directly managed by this position. Manage those budget line items throughout the church year.

7. Assist the Senior Pastor in implementing his vision for the church.

8. Supervise other staff positions as directed by the Senior Pastor and personnel committee.

9. Coordinate with the Executive Pastor to perform annual performance reviews for employees who are directly supervised by this position.

10. Serve as staff liaison for committees as directed by the Senior Pastor.

11. Coordinate with the Executive Pastor to maintain the facilities used by the ministries under the leadership of this position.

12. Keep the senior pastor informed of all administrative and ministry developments.

13. Perform other duties as assigned by the senior pastor.
