Director of Student Ministries

Purpose:

The Youth Minister will assist middle and high school students to engage in a relationship with Jesus Christ and grow into fully devoted Christian disciples.  Create environment where students and families can encounter God’s love through the way that we serve Him.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Mentor youth in discipleship. 
• Plan, prep, conduct and attend weekly Youth Nights.
• Message planning, preparation and preaching. 
• Create content for social media and posts and e-mail information to youth group, parents and students.      
• Fundraise for youth activities. 
• Plan and coordinate inside and outside events, retreats and mission trips. 
• Develop relationships within the community and speak at community events.
• Recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with youth program.
• Manage youth room equipment, design and order supplies.
• Assist with Sunday morning church services to include deliver the message.
• Coordinate Youth Band.
• Plan and facilitate Bible studies.
• Enhance Biblical knowledge/broaden teaching skills by attending workshops, exploring texts, articles, etc.
• Lead Confirmation Class.
• Facilitate open communications between youth, parents and Student Minister.
• Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor degree or equivalent
• Preferred United Methodist background
• Excellent communication skills (public speaking, one-on-one with youth and parents, teaching and listening)
• Excellent interpersonal skills, crisis management, sensitivity to confidentiality  
• Biblical knowledge and understanding of Wesleyan Theology
• Computer competency (Adobe, Microsoft Office, Keynote, and social media platforms )
