Job Description:

Position Summary:

CCCHURCH is a thriving multi-generational community of Jesus followers in the heart of Columbus, OH. We are seeking a candidate to lead our student ministry and work together with the Lead Pastor on discipleship initiatives, which we call Living the Way. We expect exciting developments in both areas in the coming years and look forward to working alongside the right candidate as God expands our reach to the 3-mile radius around our church (and beyond).

Position Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is committed to a life-giving relationship with Jesus. He or she embraces spiritual rhythms—such as prayer, study, solitude, community, and Sabbath—as a way of communing with God. As such, this person’s life radiates the goodness that comes only from walking with the Holy Spirit. He or she exhibits virtue in interactions with students, congregants, and staff. Likewise, this person conducts ministry with humility, honesty, and integrity.

We seek a candidate that is deeply passionate about ministry. He or she brings energy to projects, initiatives, and people. This leader thrives on seeing youth and adults grow spiritually and is invested in the lives of key leaders. At the same time, he or she understands human limits and, as such, successfully builds teams who can lead others well while at the same time maintaining a positive and balanced “work-life balance”. Spiritual formation, leadership development, and team building are central skills needed to be successful in this position. We seek a leader who loves these aspects of the job.

This candidate is also excited to be part of our staff. Several qualities define us as a team. First, we are collaborative. We all have our distinct roles, but we flourish best when we join efforts in shared ministry initiatives (e.g., outreach events or volunteer trainings). The ideal leader upholds commitments, meets deadlines, and communicates clearly, i.e., works well with a team. Second, we are formative. We believe staff must be spiritually healthy. To that end, we take spiritual retreats, days of rest, and practice vulnerability with one another. The right leader will thrive in this sort of intentional environment. Third, we are lighthearted. Ministry can be serious. It’s important that this candidate also have a sense of humor!

Finally, the ideal leader embraces the culture and theology of CCCHURCH. Our doctrinal statement is found at https://www.ccchurch.org/beliefs. It is crucial that the candidate agree. In addition, we believe the Holy Spirit is alive, active, and working in lives today. You see this represented in our worship, which is expressive and Spirit-led. Likewise, we affirm the full range of spiritual gifts. They are relevant for today and duly represented in our church.

We are also a church with a rich history. We have seen many new attendees in the past months, but also celebrate those who have been here for decades. It is important that the candidate be eager to help honor the past, even as we look forward to the future. Finally, relationships are at the heart of our church. Visitors regularly remark how welcoming we are. The right leader is highly relational. He or she loves people and values building intergenerational relationships.

Position Requirements:

This position requires that the candidate confess faith in Jesus, be a member of a local church (in good standing) and exhibit a love for and understanding of the Bible. The candidate must agree with the CCCHURCH statement of faith and its vision/mission. In addition, we require that staff participate in a small group and tithe to CCCHURCH. We prefer (not require) that candidates have a bachelor’s degree and several years’ experience in youth or discipleship ministries.
