Pastor – Oakfield-Alabama Baptist Church


The congregation of Oakfield-Alabama Baptist Church (OABC) is prayerfully seeking a pastor. We are a congregation of approximately 50, including both members and regular attendees.

OABC is affiliated with the North American Baptist Conference.

Our Purpose: The purpose of OABC is to fulfill the Great Commandment and Great Commission by loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind; and to love our neighbors as ourselves, as we make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything God has commanded. (Matt. 22:37-39; Matt. 28:18-20).

Responsibilities:
Leading:  The pastor will provide for the spiritual direction and leadership of the church; he will
eagerly and prayerfully guide the congregation in worship and spiritual growth in partnership with the deacons and other ministry leaders. He will also encourage the development of the various ministries and help plan, organize, and evaluate the total program of the church.

Communicating:
The pastor will provide biblical teaching and preaching. He will prepare and deliver sermons as well as assist with facilitating Bible studies and small groups. The pastor will communicate the mission and vision that God gives to the church.

Ministering:
The pastor will provide or oversee shepherding, pastoral care, and counseling to the church family and he will help to develop leaders and disciple followers of Jesus Christ.

Reaching out:
The pastor will lead the church in evangelistic outreach and involvement with the local
and global community.

Administering:
The pastor will serve as the administrator of the ministry staff, he will oversee the proper administration of the policies and procedures of the church. He will be an active member of the church and provide counsel to the deacons and ministry boards as they perform their assigned responsibilities. The pastor will collaborate with and actively support the North American Baptist Conference.

Expectations:
The pastor is expected to live the life of a 1 Timothy 3:1–7 leader to the best of his ability.

Requirements and Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree / Master of Divinity degree desired from accredited institutions

? Minimum five years of church ministry leadership

Essential Qualifications:
? Meet all the qualifications of an elder as identified in Scripture (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1)
? Be intentional about ongoing personal spiritual development and model that for the
congregation
? Agree with and adhere to the NAB Statement of Beliefs and Code of Ministerial Ethics.
? Called to serve in a rural, small-church setting

Special Notes
OABC is located on the edge of two small towns in Genesee County New York. This is
approximately a 40 minute drive to Buffalo and Rochester NY. Oakfield and Alabama
are small rural communities that are primarily agricultural, with the potential for a
technology facility being planned. Oakfield Alabama Baptist Church consists of a large
church building with a gymnasium as well as a parsonage.How to Apply:
