In 2030, we will be planted in four western locations strategically equipping suburbanites to collaborate with the Holy Spirit in wisdom, power & revelation. Together, we will graciously lead our churchless neighbors to be with Jesus & like Jesus, more every day. Together, we will empower joyous small groups to care well for each other and meet the needs of the most vulnerable. As a result, we will alter neighborhoods locally & around the world, creating tremendous applause for our Father in heaven. All four locations will be commissioned to multiply to four more locations over their next ten years. Lastly, no perfect people will be allowed to join these communities.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Worship Leader assists the Worship Pastor to create and implement a clear vision for the worship ministry that motivates church attendees to know and show the love of Jesus.  This position will encompass musical worship, mentoring and development of the team, assisting with the production and providing an overall ambiance for the worship and church services.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work with the Pastor of Worship to Build a robust and unified worship department.
  • Shepherd volunteers on worship and tech teams. (Weekly one-on-ones as well as participation is Bi-monthly team nights)
  • Develop a plan for Leadership development of volunteers. (Vocal coaching, worship leader coaching, coaching of band members) 
  • Develop a plan to recruit, audition, and onboard new team members. 
  • Lead worship from guitar and/or piano at least 2 times a month at the 11:30 and 5pm gathering. (To include, communicating with vocalists, worship leaders, and band expectations and arrangements, picking setlists 2 weeks in advance and leading the band when you are the point leader)
  • Scheduling worship teams two months in advance. 
  • Lead worship in coordination with Associate Worship Pastor for the 9am gathering. (Once every 4-6 weeks) 
  • Participate in the Service Planning team meeting every Monday morning. Review and Design of Sunday services and special programs (holiday celebrations, etc.) that demonstrate a generational and cultural sensitivity.
  • Involvement and participation in all major holidays. (Christmas Eve, Christmas concerts, Good Friday, Easter)  
  • Part of the songwriting team working to create and record original music.
  • Offer guidance and support to other ministries within the church that want to incorporate worship within their activities.
  • Available to lead worship at the following events: Leadership community, Once a month prayer nights, staff prayer, Worship Nights.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES - We ask, that if you call Vancouver Church your home church and you are faithfully following Christ-centered biblical principles, that you would embrace the following:

  • Maintain God-ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus Christ first, your spouse second, your children third and the ministry fourth.
  • As an act of worship, tithe at least 10% of your income toward the mission and vision of Vancouver Church .
  • Take the initiative and be aware of what is/isn’t happening around you and take action.
  • Expectations is that you spend 70% of your time fulfilling your personal job responsibilities, 20% supporting your fellow team members and 10% on personal/professional development.
  • Serving with joy in an area of ministry; this is above and beyond your professional job.
  • Be loyal to the mission, vision and your fellow staff members and always protect the unity of Vancouver Church.
  • Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude through all interactions with congregation, staff, and volunteers.
  • Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and come to Vancouver Church.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital growing personal relationship with Him.
  • Excellent people, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent creative skills with the ability to move from vision to execution with all elements related to the creative process. 
  • Is committed to being theologically sound over music preference, creativity, and style.
  • Has the proven ability to identify with cross-generational team members and can think strategically and effectively with various worship models, styles, and paradigms. 
  • An engaging and gracious personality, relational in ministry style.
  • Ability to develop individuals in the worship arts ministry. 
  • Strong team player, that ensures collaboration can exist between the music ministry and other ministries within Vancouver Church. 
  • 2 years of successful worship and creative arts  experience in a church setting.
  • Proficiency in music theory, playing instruments, and strong vocal skills so that the church body can easily engage. 
  • Experienced initiator and self starter. 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 

CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING: Willingness to participate in and provide continued training as appropriate; specifically as it relates to music, training, creative arts, etc.
