Duneland Community Church is seeking a worship pastor to lead our music team on Sunday mornings. Duneland is an innovative and missionally engaged church that works hard to carry out our mission of Cultivating God's Wholeness in a Broken World. We are a very welcoming, grace filled, and Spirit lead congregation, with a diverse and dynamic staff. We are the type of church who has transformed an old lumber yard into a ministry home, have compassionate ministries rooted in local mobile home communities, serve survivors of sex trafficking around the globe, and have a heart for working at the margins with ministries over the years that have served the local prison population, those struggling with addictions, and those working in the local sex industry.
The Worship Leader will work with our pastoral staff and lead our team of musicians to shape our worship services through music. We have one worship gathering each Sunday morning. The position will work with our existing team, recruit and train new musicians and singers, lead practices, and work with our technology and pastoral teams to shape our worship experiences.
Our worship service is a mixture of ancient and modern worship. We celebrate the church calendar (seasons such as Lent and Advent), we celebrate communion each week, and we utilize prayers and liturgy from various church traditions throughout history. We also utilize contemporary music (Bethel, Hillsong, Chris Renzema, Maverick City Music, music written by our team, etc..) and enjoy exploring a variety of musical genres.
All of our staff at the church are intentionally co-vocational. We are flexible with the number of hours someone can fill with this position based on their needs, gifts, and calling. This could be anywhere from a 10 hour/week position to 25-30 hours/week based on the candidate.
Qualified candidates would first and foremost fit our church culture. We are a bit outside the box, in the church world, and chemistry and fit with our culture is a must. Second, they would be able to support our statement of beliefs. Third, they would have competency in leading musically both via instrument and vocals. (Guitar or Piano would fit our style). We are open to this positon being a pastoral position, for someone who feels called to pastoral leadership and/or would be interested in pursuing ordination through our church and our denomination (The Church of the Nazarene). We are also open to this being a worship leader position, that does not have pastoral responsibilities or education expectations.
Duneland Community Church is a 75 year old congregation that has gone through two major rebirths and has emerged as a missionally engaged, vibrant, kingdom minded, community that values emotional, spiritual, and relational health, as we join God in reconciling the world.
We are an outside the box church, with models of pastoral leadership and ministry that are intentionally shaped to help the church adapt to our rapidly changing world and empower everyday people to engage in the mission of God. We love people well. We live out justice. We pour our energy into spiritual formation and worship. We love who we are as a church, and delight in who God is helping us become.
