Senior Pastor (#232513) - USA Southeast (NC)

The Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC as they search for their next Senior Pastor. Christ Baptist is a large Southern Baptist Church that has a long history of excellent ministry for all ages. They have gone to great lengths and expense over the last decade to continue their legacy as a large church that excels in a modern traditional worship service. 

Christ Baptist is an Elder led church with the pastor and a few executive staff serving as elders with a highly qualified and extremely capable elder team. The elders serve the church together using their specific roles and capabilities to accomplish the vision and direction set by the Senior Pastor. 

Educational/Professional Requirements

• Advanced theological and biblical training (MDiv at a minimum) required, with a PhD/DMin degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years pastoral experience required; senior pastor experience preferred.
• Significant preaching and leadership experience required.

The ideal candidate will be:

• An exemplary man of God and meet the biblical qualifications of Elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-5 (see attached).
• A faithful shepherd of his own family, as specified in Ephesians 5 and 6.
• A man of prayer both privately and publicly.
• A winsome, authentic person who relates to people of every age with genuine love, humility and kindness.  He should teach the people, by example and precept, how to love one another. 
• Willing and able to affirm the Statement of Faith and Bylaws of Christ Baptist Church.

 Skills and gifting the Senior Pastor at Christ Baptist must possess:

• Preaching – He must be an authentic, effective, energetic, thoughtful, articulate communicator of God’s Word. He should demonstrate a commitment to expository preaching and hold to the infallibility, inerrancy, and sufficiency of God’s Word.  His preaching should reflect a passion for the glory of God and for communicating the truth of His Word.
• Shepherding – He must be a faithful, loving shepherd of the church who loves, leads, and prays for the people of Christ Baptist Church, and demonstrates a willingness to give sacrificially of his time and energy without sacrificing his time with God and his family.
• Evangelism – He must have a passion for evangelism and missions, engaging members of all ages in their participation with local, national and international missions.
• Leadership – He must be able and willing to lead the staff, elders, deacons and congregation of Christ Baptist Church in casting vision and fulfilling the Great Commission.
