Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

Walden is a living community on Lake Conroe near Montgomery Texas. Our church began in 1983 when our community was young and just starting out – now we are in the heart of it all, surrounded by an elementary school, a fire station, a golf course and approximately 5,000 residents.

What is our church’s mission? To build community by Loving God and Loving Others.

That’s where you come in.

We need a partner who is willing to love an entire children’s & youth department. That’s the nursery all the way to the seniors graduating High School.

So right away, you’ve got to love kids. All kids, all ages.

Second you need to develop an entire program – that means you have vision, you have organizational skills, you know how to recruit and train volunteers so that our children grow into mature disciples of Christ. We’re looking for someone that is passionate about developing and implementing a program to reach new believers when they are young.

We’re looking for someone who has an outward focus and that seeks to develop new methods that minister to the needs of our community and to the adjacent elementary school. Which means you’re partnering with our parents and our staff to create More Christians and BETTER Christians.

Which means you’re an experienced youth pastor who wishes they could go back to when your students were younger and spend MORE time with them, OR an experienced Children’s minister who wishes they didn’t have to say ‘goodbye’ to your sixth graders.

Are you outgoing, energetic and contagious? Because we need a “self-starter” who is able to meet a congregation of people, get to know them, learn faces, and memorize names and who can immediately “jump in” and begin to develop a leadership team, recruit new volunteers and train and encourage the volunteers we have.

This ministry needs “active excitement.”

You, along with your family will be active and supporting members of Walden Community Church. This includes church attendance as well as outside weekly activities.

Which means it’s going to be BEST for us and for you, if you live close by.

Your Responsibilities:

As you can imagine it’s all the yearly stuff you’d expect; overseeing and developing all ministry events; Vacation Bible School, Summer Camps, Winter Retreats, Holiday festivals, lock-ins, parent date night, mission trips and weekly youth group activities.

And all the day to day stuff: ordering supplies and curriculum, creating an updated printed calendar, maintaining office hours, having an organized budget, setting up and tearing down before and after campus events, overseeing background checks, maintaining an online presence on social media, and developing a fun “brand” that can be communicated effectively to our families and visitors.

Your tools:

We can give you, a downstairs nursery, 4 upstairs classrooms, an office and one awesome youth room. We have a handful of children who are actively involved, and perhaps 15 or so youth group students. We also have a small handful of volunteer Sunday school teachers, a budget and a reasonable salary that will be negotiated based on your experience.

Qualifications:

Committed Christian & obedient disciple

A huge love for children and families

Effective communication skills (written, verbal, online and one on one)
