The Youth & Young Adult Ministries Director reports to the Executive Pastor. As a key member of the ministry team of The Log Church, the Youth & Young Adult Ministries Director oversees and leads pastoral care, discipleship, evangelism, and programming for
Youth (Middle School through High School) and Young Adults (post-High School through early 30’s).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees, shepherds, and leads Youth and Young Adults with a special view to furthering TLC’s Vision-Goals in the areas of Prayer, Worship, Discipleship and Evangelism:
- Provides, teaches, and encourages Christ-centered Worship.
- Expectantly communicates the message of faith in, and healing through, Jesus Christ to Youth and Young Adults, with a view to seeing people restored to God.
- Disciples Youth and Young Adults through personal connection, small group ministries, Bible Study, and large group meetings.
- Models, teaches, and provides opportunities for prayer.
- Fosters belonging and fellowship amongst Youth and Young Adults so that relationships develop which are conducive to spiritual growth. Identify new attenders and actively connect with them to assist in the assimilation process.
- Seeks opportunities and encourages Youth and Young Adults to serve.
- Develops personal relationships with Youth and Young Adults, and train Youth leaders to connect with the youth with whom they work.
- Provides leadership by planning, preparing, and implementing a program and Ministry goals for Youth and for Young Adults:
- Assesses the needs.
- Selects curriculum.
- Recruits, trains, develops, and regularly evaluates Youth leaders. Team building and personal investment with youth & young adult leaders is vital for healthy team dynamics.
- Schedules a weekly meeting time for Anchor (Youth Group for Middle School and High School students), plus supplementary meetings for student leaders, young adult leaders, etc; arranges Special Events for this group as needed.
- Schedules a regular meeting time (weekly or bi-weekly) for Young Adults (post-High School through college to early 30’s) for fellowship, worship, and study.
- Provides opportunities for Youth and Young Adults to develop their giftedness and Ministry skills.
- Develops annual capital and operating budget submission; stewards the approved budget.
- Ensures that all legal and safety requirements of the State of Minnesota and TLC are adhered to.
- Conducts a comprehensive annual evaluation of the program.
- This position is the predominate teacher for youth ministry.
- Works interdependently with others on the Pastoral team, participating in weekly staff meetings.
- Periodically gives ministry updates at Elders’ meetings.
- Communicates clearly & regularly with parents. Providing opportunities to train parents how to be faith at home parents.
- Keeps informed of Youth and Young Adults-related ministry needs within the community.
- Represents the needs of the Youth and Young Adults to the Executive Pastor.
- Performs other miscellaneous ministry duties, as may be required.
- Extra time will be worked surrounding retreats, District Blitz and mission trips. Since the position is salary there is no extra pay for these events. It is expected that in the week or two following these events that this position would work less hours
as agreed upon with the Executive Pastor.
- The Church will pay for this position to obtain a Minnesota Class B drivers license in order to drive the church bus.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A deep faith in, and love for, Jesus Christ.
- Love and compassion for Youth and Young Adults.
- Demonstrated ability and passion to carry out the Duties and Responsibilities of the position.
- Be in agreement with the EFCA & Crosslake EFC statements of faith.
- Prepared to be ordained and/or licensed by the EFCA.
- Preferably, a Bachelor of Theology degree or equivalent.
Salary Range: $35-$40k based upon experience.
