Youth Pastor

The role: The Youth Pastor is responsible to serve the families and leadership of First Assembly by leading an effective and comprehensive ministry to our junior and senior high youth, and providing leadership to and supervision of volunteers involved in this ministry.

Our Youth Pastor will specifically be expected to provide:

Balanced ministry for youth with the functions of the ministries supported by our leadership model:

1. Spiritual Life: Preaching/Teaching, Prayer and Worship
2. Spiritual Community: Frontline/Assimilation, Care Ministries
3. Discipleship and Ministry Development
4. Outreach/Missions: Here, Near, and Far through Missions and Community Care

Have a pulse on how to best equip and support families to strengthen spiritual growth for their youth. This will impact the way a successful Youth Pastor:

1. Plans events
2. Chooses and/or creates curriculum
3. Builds teams that reflect family and multi-generational needs
4. Provides Pastoral Care

Gain, train and retain volunteer ministers within the Youth Ministry in alignment with the direction of the volunteer culture of First Assembly. Specific areas for leadership include:

1. Junior High ministry (Tribe 6-8) on Sunday Mornings
2. Junior High and High School ministry (Tribe) on Wednesday Evenings
3. Events outside of routine services

Align vision, teamwork and initiatives of the Youth Ministry with the overall core values of the church and pastoral staff initiatives in the areas of:

1. Budget
2. Facility
3. Calendaring in partnership with church rhythm and core values
4. The Lead Pastor’s requests

A collaborative leadership approach using your specific strengths for the furtherment of the whole Student Ministries team at First Assembly.

1. Develop and implement programs to effectively transition youth from one grade level to the next.
2. Meet Youth Ministry goals and objectives established with the Student Ministries Director.

Education & Experience

Preferential attention will be given to candidates with 2 or more years of church staff or equivalent experience in youth and/or family ministry.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and have a willingness to be credentialed by the Assemblies of God.
