Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

The Campus Pastors at Harvest Bible Chapel locations are the “face of the place” and are responsible for the pastoral leadership and management of staff and all functions of the campus (financial and ministry). The Campus Pastor will oversee and develop a team of strong leaders to advance the Mission of Harvest.  In addition, the Campus Pastor will partner with the Lead Campus Pastor and Senior Leadership Team to achieve ministry goals and initiatives.

The Campus Pastor is a catalytic leader with a shepherd’s heart and the competencies to lead, grow, and multiply disciples. He will provide vision, direction, development, shepherding and accountability for staff and volutneers through the oversight of multiplied discipleship, outreach, assimilation, teaching, serving teams, and weekend worship services.

Job Responsibilities:

The Campus Pastor is the leader of ongoing, Christ-centered, Spirit-led stories of life change in the local context. A Campus Pastor is able to coach the campus team and champion the church’s methods and model of ministry. He’s focused on making disciples by equipping the people for the work of ministry on their campus and in their communities.

He needs to be comfortable preaching when called to do so, but also appreciates that the bulk of the teaching

will come from the Central Teaching Team. He understands the intent, and drives success metrics and outcomes of all ministries on the campus. He effectively manages the campus portion of the overall Harvest Bible Chapel annual budget, managing fundraising and capital campaign efforts and all financial activity in accordance with the policies and practices.
Here are the five areas in which we ask a Campus Pastor to effectively lead:

  1. Spiritual Shepherding: The Campus Pastor is a responder to the work of the Lord and is constantly looking to step into spiritual moments, create spiritual environments, and create a culture of faith, hope and love. He knows his staff and the people he is pastoring and is constantly working to connect them to the Lord, who is their Chief Shepherd.

  2. Vision Alignment: The Campus Pastor models our “one church in six locations” vision by championing the pillars and ministry initiatives of the Senior Leadership Team and the Ministry Leadership Team to both the campus staff and the congregation. He facilitates a culture congruent with Harvest Staff Values, policies, and best practices.

  3. Relationship Building:  The Campus Pastor connects with people inside and outside the church building. He identifies and deploys lay leaders, encourages believers through the Word of God, and is actively seeking opportunities to share the Gospel with the lost. He continually strives to establish and facilitate healthy channels of communication with staff, elders, and congregants.

  4. Team Development:  The Campus Pastor directly initatives and develops both ministry staff and lay leaders in their role and in spiritual growth through weekly team meetings and one-on-one meetings. Working with the Central Team, he sets goals, monitors progress, and influences outcomes.

  5. Ministry Development: The Campus Pastor serves as a champion of the Mission of Harvest. He owns the development of ministry on his campus and diligently oversees the work to ensure excellence.

About Harvest Bible Chapel

Located in Chicago, IL, Harvest Bible Chapel is one church on multiple campuses with one mission: To glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

Today Harvest Bible Chapel is a family of thousands, with Christ-adoring worshipers on multiple campuses throughout Chicagoland. But it started as a group of 18 people, who gathered from five different churches across the northwest suburbs and desired to form a new church. They developed a vision for this church, which grew into the Five Pillars—Unapologetic Preaching, Unashamed Adoration, Unceasing Prayer, Unafraid Witness, and Unconditional Love. Built on the foundation of Jesus Christ and framed by these pillars, Harvest Bible Chapel was launched on September 18, 1988, at Rolling Meadows High School.
