The Mission:
God is assembling an experienced team with a passion for church planting in the coastal communities along the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. Two years ago a vibrant group of believers who had been gathering in Fairhope, Al. approached Rivertown Community Church (RCC // www.rivertown.cc) with the proposal of an adoptive merger. In the time since the adoption, RCC has moved from a multi-site strategy to a Regional-Multi-site strategy. The Eastern Shore has been chosen as one of the three Regional locations. We are mobilizing the core team and assembling a winning church planting team to lead that effort. We are meeting currently and building our core team into a launch team. We are fully funded and will officially launch in early 2021.
What’s it like to live on the Eastern Shore?
The communities of the Eastern Shore are unique. It is a picture perfect southern coastal area where the Mobile Bay connects with the Gulf of Mexico. The southern charm of these communities has been preserved while all the conveniences of a large and rapidly growing suburban culture have been added. The current population of the Eastern Shore is 80,000 with 5,000 people a year moving into our county. There is a huge representation of transplants from the midwest. If you travel across the nine mile bridge that connects the Eastern Shore to Mobile you will find a large city of 180,000 that is very diverse and has a culture that reflects the cajun and creole culture of New Orleans. Housing costs are very reasonable. Our first campus will remain in Fairhope, Alabama which is frequently featured on top 10 lists of most liveable home towns in the Southeast.
