Journey Church is looking for a professional, competent, yet relational person with integrity and attention to detail who can efficiently administrate the vision, mission, core values and spiritual development of Journey Church for Journey Youth (6th-
12th Grade). The Youth Pastor is directly responsible for oversight, direction and spiritual development of the Middle School and High School students at Journey Church in Bend, Oregon.
Qualifications & Characteristics
- Enthusiastic willingness to serve Christ and His church
- Maturity of Christian character and daily life with Christ
- Demonstrated professional character of honesty and integrity
- Strong planning and administrative gifts and skills
- Meet the Deacon qualifications laid out in I Timothy 3:1-7
- Leads by example, accepts responsibility, sets clear expectations
- Displays discretion, perseverance, humility, patience and a sense of humor; champions teamwork and a supportive work atmosphere
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College
- 2+ Years of Ministry experience at a church with an average weekly attendance of 1,000 or more.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversight and direction of Journey in Bend’s Middle School and High School Youth Groups respectively.
- Embrace and incorporate our Someone’s First Day philosophy in all areas of the ministry
- Recruiting, training and maintaining ministry volunteers (Identify, invite and empower volunteer leaders to be a part of the respective ministries)
- Preparation and oversight of weekly meetings
- Become immersed in the High School community by being actively involved in the local High Schools, FCA, Young Life, etc. Post-COVID, visit high schools and/or attend extracurricular activities regularly to support students.
- Create excellent environments for kids by constant evaluation and systematic improvements
- Execute relevant and meaningful events
- Maintain a ministry budget
- Creating an environment for Journey in Bend’s respective Youth Groups that create momentum and excitement

- Be a member of the Journey Family of Churches, or become one within 2 months of hire
Church Responsibilities
- As a staff member of the Journey Family of Churches, you would be expected to support and build upon the philosophy of ministry that we hold to.
- The main function of this position is Middle School and High School ministry, however, there will be additional staff responsibilities assigned upon hire. These responsibilities may depend on gifting combined with church needs.
Compensation is salary based on education and experience along with medical and retirement benefits.
