Director of Student Ministry & Contemporary Worship

Faith United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, FL is a thriving community whose mission is, “To continue the mission of Jesus, by loving, worshipping, and serving.” To that end, it’s people are passionate about worshipping the Lord and serving others in and out of the walls of the church. Faith Church is in search of its next Director of Student Ministry & Contemporary Worship.

This is a full-time position as it covers two distinct ministries in the church. Our new Director of Student Ministries & Contemporary Worship will be tasked, as the name implies, with leadership of our youth group and the volunteer and paid musicians in our contemporary worship service. A brief description of the demands of each ministry is mentioned below.

The new Director of Student Ministries will teach our students about Jesus and will help them to build a personal relationship with the Lord. She/he will lead the students in serving others in and outside the walls of the church. This person should have the ability to establish and maintain relationships with the youth and their families. She/he must be able to work as a team member on staff. This person needs to be able to recruit new volunteers and lead them in ministry to our students and their families. Organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively are necessities for this ministry.

The new Director of Contemporary Worship will participate on our Worship Planning Team to plan meaningful worship services. This person shall be well versed in modern contemporary worship music and have knowledge of traditional hymns. The ability to work well with a team of mostly volunteer musicians is a necessity. She/he needs to be able to create a schedule for the worship team. This person will need to be intentional in the ongoing effort to recruit volunteers for this ministry. The Director will supervise one Sound Technician and one paid musician (both are part-time positions). A knowledge of sound and lighting technology is greatly preferred.

Preference will be given to applicants who have previous experience in a ministry of the United Methodist Church. Also, it is desirable for the applicant to maintain a personal and professional theology consistent with the Wesleyan understanding of the Christian faith.

In order to effectively serve in these two critical roles in the church, this person must be accessible. Therefore, it is preferred that the director reside in Fort Myers.
