Senior Pastor

Position Overview

The Senior Pastor is a directional leader who stands with the Elders of Faith Baptist Church as the point person on the leadership team. He provides leadership for the Elder Board in setting the vision and direction of the church. He is encouraged and empowered by the advisement and accountability of the Elders as together they lead the church.

He serves as a leader among equals with the Elders in directional decisions. He and the Executive Pastor then lead church staff, engaging ministry volunteers in operational decision-making in accord with Elder direction and Faith Baptist Church’s Constitution and by-laws. As a mature and humble Christ-follower, the Senior Pastor is expected to exhibit (by the power of the Holy Spirit) the character qualities of Jesus.

Benefits / Salary Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience and in keeping with the cost of living in Upstate NY. The benefits package includes health insurance with a Healthcare Savings Account option, retirement contribution, and paid time off. Specifics shall be discussed with the Applicant at an appropriate point in the interview process.

Responsibilities

• Preaching – Teaching God’s Word 
• Shepherding – Provide Spiritual Leadership to the Elders, Staff, and Congregation 
• Casting Vision – Lead Elders in Cultivating and Articulating Vision/Direction of the Church 
• Oversight – Serve with the Elders to Oversee the Church; Oversee Church Staff with the Executive Pastor per the Church’s Organizational Chart

Requirements

• Ordained Minister
• Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a multi-staff church
• Skilled in verbal and written communication
• Committed to further developing the mission, vision, and values of Faith Baptist Church
• Champions and defends Faith Baptist Church’s Affirmation of Faith and Constitution (see attachment)
