Kids Ministry Director - Elementary grades 1-6

SUMMARY:  

Coordinates with the Kids Ministry Director to oversee and administer discipleship for kids (grades 1-6) of the members of the Park Chapel congregation. Collaborates with the director to build the infrastructure that will foster the relational connections that enable spiritual growth and engage kids and families in the mission of connecting people to Jesus.

-Responsible to the Director of Kids Ministry

-Lead Transit ministry volunteers 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Discipleship: Provide relational opportunities for kids to connect as we equip and point them to spiritual maturity with a special emphasis on prayer, learning to live the Bible, generosity, and service. 

Check In: Maintain a safe and fun environment where kids and parents can feel good about participating in programming. Continue seeking the safest way to check in and check out kids during Sunday morning programming and other student related events.

Volunteers: Develop relationships with adults and students who serve kids on Sundays and at other special events throughout the year.  Maintain a schedule that provides appropriate and safe coverage for all programs for kids grade 1-6. Engage with 60+ volunteers on average for Sunday morning programming. Also coordinate and communicate with 30 or so volunteers in supporting SWITCH (4-6 grade youth group experience).

Programming: Sunday morning programming/curriculum that challenges kids to learn about Jesus. Editing and writing lessons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th, and 6th grade classes. This includes small group lessons as well as large group teaching sessions. Also responsible for supplies and props needed in classrooms each week. May use the support of volunteers to prep, order, and purchase necessary supplies.

Events:  SuperStart, SWITCH, and 6th grade graduation celebration.  Responsible for all aspects of events that encourage engagement of elementary age kids.  Open and willing to attend any kids events in support of team and discipleship strategies. While SuperStart and 6th grade grad are held annually, SWITCH takes place once a month, 10 months out of the year. Not only does SWITCH require a willing team of volunteers, but also prepared lessons, games, and other activities. Must be willing to work alongside Student Ministry team for ideas as to how to make SWITCH a unique preteen youth group experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Spiritual: A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate relationship with Him that is evident to all who know him. Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle that complies with the Biblical qualifications of an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:7-9. A person of prayer and of the Word, sensitive to what the Spirit is doing in their life as well as the life of the church.    Balanced views of evangelism and discipleship as well as knowledge and application. Spiritual gift mix of leadership, teaching and administration.

Organizational: Agreement with the beliefs, mission, vision, values and elder-led governance of Park Chapel Christian Church. Competent in organization, administration and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with widely diverse groups of people. Must pass the Church’s background check. 

Education, Experience, Knowledge: Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.

WORK HOURS and SUPERVISION:

Work Hours: Full-time position of 40 hours a week. Work week is Sunday through Thursday with nights required based on programming and events. 

Supervision: No staff supervision responsibilities. Volunteer supervision required.
