About Fellowship North:

We are a campus of a larger family of churches referred to as Fellowship Church.  Each of the campus’ attempts to structure staff, culture and ministry to their particular context (neighborhood, part of town, etc..) all while embracing and being accountable to the same Gospel-formed DNA, leadership structure and mission.

Our specific Church body is called Fellowship North.  We are located approximately 4 miles North of downtown Knoxville, TN in a community called Fountain City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Mission, Purpose and Core Values of Fellowship church and maintain behaviors that are consistent with them
  • Understand the ministry purpose and demonstrate it in performance of job responsibilities
  • To lead several (but not all) of the roles below based on personal gifting, experience, passion, and team fit:
    • Oversight of student ministry
    • Assist in Preaching
    • Administrative work
    • Potential college Ministry
    • Family Ministry
    • Men’s Ministry
    • Work with a team to structure & Shepherd Life Groups
    • Raise up Leaders and Co-leaders for life Groups
    • Pastoral Care:
      • Individual/ one on one meetings with those in crisis or simply needing shepherding.
    • Assimilation
    • Community outreach
    • Local and Global Partners
  • Participation in monthly All Campus Pastoral Staff meetings and Multiplication Pastor Meetings

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Master’s degree in Biblical Studies preferred
  • Experience:
    • 3 years or more experience working within most of the above listed categories.
  • Personal Convictions and Practices
    • You must hold to the infallible, inerrant word of God as the primary Authoritative revelation for any and all of life
    • The conviction that when our interaction with scripture exposes an incongruency between our mindset, attitude or lifestyle, the only appropriate and right response, is to bring ourselves to congruency with Scripture, not the other way around.
    • You must have a knowledge of scripture that informs and dictates your understanding of the Gospel & therefore live and teach a Gospel formed Worldview.
    • A pursuit of Personal Holiness
    • A spirit of humility and responsibility
    • Honest
    • A valued, strong and observable work ethic
    • A respect for authority, the ability to be flexible and therefore submit to decisions or directions that might be different than your desired decision or direction. This is an elder led church.
  • Leadership skills:
    • A knowledge of, a heart for and skills to shepherd people. This includes:
      • The desire and ability to recruit people to a vision.
      • The ability to clearly communicate the task and their role in it.
      • A conviction of “The Gifting Principle.” Certain people can and will steward well, certain responsibilities that align with their competencies and gifts.
      • An ability to discern where someone is in their spiritual journey and a vision for how they can grow in it. An overall understanding, heart and ability to disciple People!
      • The ability to empower; rather than micromanage, those whom you call into partnership and leadership.
      • The ability to have hard conversations
      • The conviction and willingness to shepherd and protect the flock from those outside of and from within our body who will do harm.
        • Harm can occur from someone with conscious ill intent or from someone ignorant of the harm they are causing (this ignorance can come from a deep immaturity, deep wounds in their past or present, etc.) While we would address these two categories differently, it is of equal importance that they be addressed
      • A Multiplication mindset: the very endeavor of making disciples is a multiplication endeavor.
    • Specific Competencies:
      • A Gatherer (does not have a hard time getting people to “buy in”)
      • Capable communicator (Not necessarily dynamic)
      • Team building
      • Administrative gifts:
        • Organizational skills (the ability to track and account for)
        • Implementation skills (knows how to make a vision a reality)
      • Event oriented
        • Sees the value in getting people together
        • Celebrating groups, people, stories
        • Creative minded
        • Has the skills to pull off such events
      • Personal Characteristics and Traits:
      • A People Person (approachable)
      • Leans toward giving the benefit of the doubt
      • Optimistic
      • An extrovert
      • Emotional stability and intelligence (discerning; not easily offended)
      • Community life oriented

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
