In order to accomplish the following goals as the Worship Pastor, you must have an authentic heart for God and be walking daily with Him in all apsects of your spiritual, personal, and professional life.
- Worship: Planning, leading and evaluating a comprehensive worship ministry which exalts the Lord, proclaims the Gospel, edifies the church, and teaches believers how to worship God. The Worship Pastor will lead people into true, authentic and dynamic worship.
- Leadership: Train and develop leaders in the worship ministry. Possess the ability to place potential leaders into a “leadership pipeline” and develop and train leaders at all ability levels. The Worship Pastor will be a leader of leaders.
- Pastor/Shepherd/Disciple: Provide shepherding and care for those in the worship ministry and beyond. Constantly be discipling leaders and helping members take their “next step” in their walk with Christ. The Worship Pastor will be a pastor and disciple
maker.
Essential Job Functions:
- Direct the planning, coordinating, execution and evaluation of a comprehensive Worship Ministry with concern and detail for the overall worship experience.
- Assist the Lead Pastor in planning worship and special services of the church. Work with the Lead Pastor in selection of music for all services.
- Develop the Worship Ministry goals, organization, leadership, use of facilities, financial needs (create and manage budget), and policies and procedures.
- Lead, direct and engage the congregation during worship.
- Coordinate, schedule, and lead rehearsals and sound checks.
- Provide music counsel for weddings, funerals and other needs when appropriate.
- Supervise all paid and volunteer music and tech (sound, lighting) staff.
- Provide ongoing training opportunities for music and tech (sound, lighting) staff.
- Supervise the Technical Director (paid position) in his role of the use of technology in worship.
- Remain current on music, equipment, promotion and administration methods of worship ministry in general.
- Perform other requests as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
Specialized Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree and some seminary
- Ability to read and teach music
- Ability to be a lead vocalist
- Proficient in at least one musical instrument
- Comfortable working with software such as Planning Center, Pro-Presenter, and Loop Community (or similar)
- Artistic and creative capabilities to complement the worship service as a whole
- Strong working knowledge of sound/video/lighting technology
- Comfortable leading with or without loops/tracks
