CHILDREN AND PRESCHOOL MINISTER/DIRECTOR
I. Principle Function
To provide vision, strategy, development and support for all Preschool and Children’s ministries (birth through 5th grade) and to provide leadership, direction, and training for all ministry leadership and volunteers.
II. Responsibilities
- Develop program planning and implementation with leadership of the Preschool and Children’s ministries. These program and events should provide for the spiritual formation of children while equipping parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual
leaders of their children.
- Work to strengthen relationship with the families of FBCJ and the greater community.
- Assess the effectiveness of ministry activities and programs and make revisions as needed
- Coordinate recruiting, screening, and training of all workers for ministry programs. Plan and conduct leadership training for new workers and refresher training for experienced leadership.
- Provide the best possible Sunday morning experience for children
- Make J-Town parent friendly developing greeters inside and outside, while providing a safe and clean environment that parents feel is secure.
- Oversee the First Step Ministry
- Evaluate and order curriculum for the various preschool program needs
- Provide direction and oversight to the Extended Care and Nursery Worker Coordinators to ensure that needed volunteer and/or paid employees are recruited, trained, scheduled and communicated with to provide a full team for each Sunday, Wednesday, and other
events during the week.
- Give oversight to the Children’s Learning Center’s weekday program
- Develop a working relationship with the CLC Director and staff to explore ways to disciple the families, through the children.
- Constantly be looking for the needs and hurts, within the families of the children and preschoolers and connecting them to ministries within the church
- Care for the needs of those serving in nursery, preschool and elementary ministries
- Engage in ministry responsibilities, as assigned, to include assisting candidates for baptism and baby dedications
- Work with the Student Minister to develop strategic discipleship for children as they transition from the children’s ministry to Student Ministry
- Partner with FBCJ and community parents to equip them to minister to the whole family. Develop an effective way to stay in touch with both groups
- Develop connections with local schools and community organizations
- Develop leadership programs for older children to begin working and serving as leaders in the Children’s Ministry
- Develop and implement programs to equip and train staff and lay leaders within the ministry
- Requirements
- Clear Christian character and a growing faith that is passionate about sharing the gospel and making disciples for Christ
- Christ-like attitude in words and actions, being able to work with a wide variety of people
- Must be able to problem solve, maintain and protect confidentiality
- A passion for the next generation by reaching and discipling children in their faith
- Earned degree(s) and/or other credentials that have equipped individual for the duties of the role
