Wildwood Christian Church seeks to connect our distracted community into a life focused on Jesus.  We are located in West County St Louis, in the city of Wildwood, with a population of 32,748.  WCC averages 225 in two Sunday morning services.  We have a staff of three full-time ministers (Senior Minister, Student, and Children’s) and a full-time church secretary. 

We are seeking a part-time worship leader to facilitate an environment which connects the hearts of God’s people in a time of worship.   We generally utilize a five-piece worship band in an informal, contemporary setting. We are seeking someone with a passion for worship, a growing relationship with Jesus, the ability to support and grow a worship team to honor Jesus Christ, and to impact our vision to help our community to live a life in focus!

Part-Time Worship Leader Wildwood Christian Church – Job Description

Role

The Worship Leader is responsible for facilitating an environment which connects the hearts of God’s people in a time of worship. 

Key responsibilities

The WCC Worship Leader will oversee worship at WCC including:

• Oversight of Sunday morning worship planned in cooperation with the Senior Minister and Worship Planning Team.
• Recruiting, training, scheduling and support instrumentalists and Singers;
• Selection of Sunday music in conjunction with message;
• Leading the worship team practice.
• Leading the Worship Planning Team, working together to provide God-honoring worship.

Accountability

The Worship Leader reports to and is accountable to the Senior Minister. She/he is expected to harmoniously consult with staff members, Elders, Ministry Team Leaders and others as necessary for the effective functioning and timely implementation of the Lord's work. The Worship Leader will exhibit an attitude of trust and collaboration toward peers, the congregation, and the leadership of the church.  The Worship Leader will be an active participant of Wildwood Christian Church and will be involved in major church activities.

The Mission of WCC is to connect our distracted community to a life focused on Jesus.  The role of the Worship Leader is to directly influence the Worship side of our strategy – to focus our hearts on Jesus.

Worship at WCC adheres to the values we hold, especially the following values: 

• “No Pretense” – worship at WCC should be heartfelt, but relaxed. We want to give our very best to Jesus as we worship. Yet worship isn’t a performance, but rather an encouragement for God’s people to focus their hearts on Jesus. 
• “Open Door” – worship must consider the viewpoint of the guest. As we evaluate time, music, tempo, quality, theme, and even what is stated, it must be sensitive and keep the door open.
• “Biblically Grounded” – worship must be biblical, teach the bible, and uplift the bible. We want the songs, theme, words to all point back to the bible and Jesus.
• “Growing Together” – worship is a team effort and isn’t dependent upon one individual. It is also a team effort between the worship team and the church family.

Organization – proven abilities to keep the different aspects of this job running smoothly.

People skills – because of the multitude of people involved in worship, the ability to handle various personalities is essential.

Involvement / Delegation – WCC believes in the multiplication of ministry.  The Worship Leader is to be a catalyst for the involvement of others.  By preparing others for greater responsibility, we multiply our influence.  The Elders would especially like to see the continued development of younger Worship Leaders on Sunday morning.

Theology – support and adhere to the key beliefs of Wildwood Christian Church.

This is a part time position we see managed on average in 12-20 hours a week.  Though the Worship Leader would be responsible for all 52 Sunday’s, we would require the Worship Leader to be on stage a minimum of 42 weeks.
