Job Description:

We are looking for the next member of our ministry team. We are a non-denominational church looking to invest in a new Full Time position to continue outreaching into our community and training disciples. This position would replace our current part time Children’s and Youth pastors. Our Youth pastor is being moved to asst. Pastor of women’s ministry and Pastoral Care and our Children’s ministry Is sadly exiting after 6 years of faithful service.

Our church has a long history, recently changing our name to the Fountain in 2019 to better reflect our independent non-denominational nature and reflect our desire to be a Fountain through which the living water of Jesus flows.  Our current make-up includes people from various denominational backgrounds and we strongly believe, “In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity.”

While this position is full time, it does not include insurance.  Compensation based one experience.

Position: Next Gen Pastor

Status: Full Time

Reports To:  Senior Pastor for day to day operations, OIT director for Outreach efforts, and as necessary, personnel Committee, and Elder council.

Job Overview:

The Next Gen Pastor is critical to the Spiritual development of those attending the Fountain who are 18 years of age and under.  They will primarily delegate teaching roles of younger children to volunteers, while handling the bulk of teaching teens themselves.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Ministry:  This minister is responsible for the overall spiritual health of the next generation who attend the fountain. By creating, implementing, and providing leadership for the spiritual development and motivation of the youth and children at the Fountain.

-Will plan, implement, and provide leadership for ministry, discipleship, fellowship and worship opportunities for youth at the Fountain.

Administration: Provides timely reports about ministry activities as directed by the senior Pastor.

Leadership: The Youth and Children’s pastor is to be a role model, able to inspire youth, fellow staff, volunteers and other church members and attendees. This individual should serve as a mentor to youth and volunteers in this area of ministry.  Lead by example in creating a safe and transparent environment in all areas of ministry.

Breakdown of hours:  Office hours/ preparation time 25 Hours,  Programming 5 Hours, Relationship development/ community events/ Online outreach 10.

Qualifications: Experience with both youth (teens) and children in a ministry setting

Education level: College level biblical study, or equivalent experience required.

Specific skills: Management and recruiting skills required. Social Media and standard computer skills are necessary in this digital age.

Musical skills, or the ability to speak Spanish would be a plus.

Personal characteristics: Candidate should be outgoing, relational, able to participate in our Organic Outreach culture, a good listener, a motivator, and a team player.

Certifications: None required.

Licenses:  A formal Ministerial License or Ordination is not required but preferred.

Physical abilities: This position will require lite lifting for decorating for events or delegating to volunteers.

Notes: Awana training preferred, continuing education including Awana, apologetics, and general youth safety and legal expectations will be ongoing.  Key books that would help understand our church culture would be Organic Outreach by Kevin Harney, U-Turn Church by Kevin Harney and Bob Bower, and Tactics by Greg Koukl.  If the candidate is not familiar with those books, they would be expected to complete them before or shortly after coming on staff.

Our Church history has its roots in the early Church restoration movement, some familiarity with this may help a candidate understand where we have been. Our current Pastor comes from a Calvary Chapel background, and familiarity with the “verse by verse” teaching style found in that movement would be helpful.

Our body became a church in 1857. We have always been commiting to united around the essentials of the faith, calling each believer to be a berean, and working together for God's Glory. Over a decade ago, we parted ways with a denomination we felt was comprimising on essentials, and this year we changed our name to better reflect our indepdent status and remove confusion about what we believe. 

We a growing church with an emphasis on evangelism and apologetics. We feature mixed worship in our current service, with the goal of growing to the point of including 2 services one more traditionally, and one contemporary.
