Position Description

 

The mission of Crossroads Church is to “Lead People to the Truth that Transforms Lives in North Central Ohio and Around the World.”  Crossroads strives to accomplish this mission through three distinct core values: 1) Committed to Glorifying God 2) Connected in Community 3) Called to Share. Crossroads is a dynamic church with people eager for the effective work of God’s Word to transform them. We are experiencing a season of growth and development and have launched an initiative to start new campuses throughout our region. We will soon have five campuses throughout North Central Ohio.

The Executive Pastor of Ministries will give strategic oversight and leadership to the Executive Team and staff in order to fulfill the core values and strategy of Crossroads Church. Specifically, this role oversees staff development, directs specific Executive Team staff, front office staff and procedures, security staff and team, and HR as it relates to the hiring process and staff onboarding.

The candidate must be able to lead in a variety of settings, a self-starter, an effective communicator, willing to be in the details of the church, one that values teamwork, and have a shepherd heart. The candidate must have a passion for staff development and the ability to oversee all aspects of the ministry strategy of the church. The candidate must be an extremely intuitive leader, a problem-solver, and able to oversee and evaluate ministry strategies, processes, and structures that will help move the mission and vision of the church forward. This position will serve as a member of the church’s Executive Team and report to the Lead Pastor. Any person interested must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred), experience in ministry oversight and strategy with a heart for pastoral ministry.

Personal

The Crossroads Church Executive Pastor of Ministries is to be a man of God, who has ordered his life in compliance with the teaching of Scripture and the example of our Lord.  He is to be an example to the believers in personal godliness (1 Timothy 4:12) and to exemplify God’s requirements for a pastor that includes maintaining a proper Christian home (1 Timothy 3:1-7).

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, through faith in Him as the Way, Truth, and Life.
  • Be fully committed to living a godly life both in public and private.
  • Be fully committed to his family by lovingly leading his spouse and children in life and ministry.

Ministry

To assist the body of Crossroads Church to “lead people to the Truth that transforms lives” by overseeing and leading the strategic ministry of the church. This position helps fulfill the overall vision and strategy of Crossroads.

 

Description

Major Points of Description:

- Lead and direct specific Executive Staff; evaluate existing processes and programs, and develop and implement new ideas to ensure the vision of Crossroads is fulfilled with the utmost excellence and effectiveness.

- Develop current and future staff and further improve the Crossroads hiring process.

- Identify and ensure staff and ministry leaders have what they need to operate well, grow and thrive within the mission of the church. 

- Aid and encourage the staff to achieve departmental strategies, processes and structures that help fulfill Crossroads Core Values. Maintain metrics to show progress toward these strategies.

- Serve as a member of the Crossroads Executive Team and Elder Team (Church Vision and Oversight)

 

Specific Description:

  • Oversee, lead and evaluate Executive Staff direct reports.
  • Work with the staff to further develop the Crossroads 5 Drivers (Core Values, Strategies, Processes, Structures, and People Development).
  • Oversee all staff meetings, staff prayer, staff chapel and staff retreats in collaboration with the Lead Pastor.
  • Champion and evaluate healthy staff culture.
  • Develop and improve a consistent Crossroads hiring process. As a key leader on the church staff, assist in filling key staff vacancies and making organizational changes which are necessary to support the healthy, long-term sustainability & growth of the church.
  • Implement leadership development and other high-level initiatives, including the launching of multi-site campuses, future growth initiatives, and other key strategies as directed by the Lead Pastor.
  • Oversee security staff and team. Work with the security team to ensure that we are up to date in our security efforts.
  • Serve as a member of the teaching team (if applicable gifting).
  • Submit to the vision and direction of the Lead Pastor. Carry out other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor (specifically regarding the coordination and facilitation of other service elements and programmed events like baptisms, dedications, weddings, funerals, etc.).

 

Qualifications:

  • Must love and serve Jesus Christ above all others, be mature in their Christian faith, and consider the position a call from God.
  • Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession, and fellowship.
  • Due to the nature of the position we desire the applicant to be married and have a passion for healthy families and relationships.
  • Demonstrate excellence in ministry strategy and leading people toward specific goals.
  • Ability to execute strategies, processes and structures within a team environment. Must have proven knowledge in ministry/leadership concepts, methodologies and techniques for church growth.
  • Relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for leading a church. Exhibits an ability to engage people from all walks of life. Has experience leading leaders.
  • Willing to lead from the second-chair position. Enjoys working from behind the scenes for ministry.
  • Maintain a high level of excellence in your appearance, work habits, and quality of work performed.
  • Organized and able to evaluate effectiveness on many different levels.
  • Agree with the overall ministry philosophy and direction of Crossroads. Progressive/forward thinking/visionary/self-motivated.
  • It would be beneficial but not required that the candidate would have some experience and/or a ministry philosophy of leading teams.
  • The applicant should have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Master’s level preferred. Supervisory experience in a ministry setting is required.
  • Executive experience in a large church setting preferred (1,000+)

The Worship Arts Pastor will lead, create, and align the Worship Arts Department of the church to fulfill the mission of the church and support the core values. Specifically, this role oversees all Crossroads Worship Staff, worship teams, and the development of our services to fulfill our first core value, Committed to Glorifying God. The Worship Arts Pastor will champion Crossroads DNA by dynamically and effectively casting vision for church-wide worship and will maximize the effectiveness of the weekend experience by connecting the hearts of people to the person of Christ. The candidate must be able to lead in a variety of settings, be gifted musically, a visionary leader, and one that values teamwork. The candidate must have a passion for leading leaders by equipping Crossroads worship leaders (consisting of all campuses) and overseeing all aspects of worship planning and execution. The successful candidate must be able to play the guitar/keys and/or other lead instruments, effectively audition and develop other musicians and embody the energy and integrity that others will follow. The candidate must be an extremely intuitive worship leader, with systems in place, and qualities that display spirit-led, Christ-focused, people-edifying worship. This position will serve as a member of the church’s Executive Team. Any person interested must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred), some understanding of music theory, and have at least 3 years of experience in Worship Arts Ministry.
