Director of Global Missions
(a full-time, at-will, exempt position)
Scope of Position:
The Director of Global Missions (Director) will coordinate, plan and lead global mission/outreach efforts in conjunction with the Missions/Outreach team for Crossings Community Church (Crossings).
The goal is to create opportunities for Crossings congregants to be a voice of hope by living courageously, joining in Gods redemptive work in the world and being known by love through the provision of opportunities to relationally evangelize. The position
will also assume assigned responsibilities within the Local Community efforts.
Organizational Relationships:
The Director reports directly to the Pastor of Missions/Outreach Ministries (Missions Pastor). The Director collaborates with Satellite Campus Pastors, other departments, and identified volunteers to support the outreach efforts of Crossings.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in strategic planning, program objectives, accountability for ministry operations and adherence to administrative policies and procedures.
- Prepares standing reports
- Prepares global budget for input into the overall Missions budget
- Follows systems for background checks, safety and security procedures related to volunteers.
- Recruit, develop, equip, and empower volunteer leaders within the Missions Ministry.
- Work with the Missions team (staff and volunteers) to design, implement, and oversee outreach opportunities for Crossings congregations. Champion periodic special events that assist our partner ministries in both global and local initiatives.
- Oversee and nurture global long-term ministry and missionary partnerships.
- Identify Learning and Cultural Engagement (LACE) trip experiences with partners that include developing team leaders, scheduling, promotion, overseeing spiritual preparation and debriefs of teams, as well as budget oversight.
- Serve as the coordinating point for the Global/Short-term Missions Team and the Missionary Care Teams for meetings, follow-up and outcomes.
- Plan, prepare agendas, reports and minutes of the meetings
- Recruit, train and develop Team members
- Promote the Rope Holder Ministry which serves as the congregation prayer and encouragement efforts with missionary partners
- Coordinate the visits of missionaries with the congregation which includes lodging, transportation, speaking schedule and presentation needs
- Serve as host as needed taking them to meals, meetings or activities
- Maintain up to date website and print communications for Global efforts.
- Coordinate/lead one Wednesday night class series each year related to Global Missions.
- Foster global mission exposure and participation within other departments and satellites of Crossings by assisting with missions ministry planning and execution within Kids, Student, Adult, and Womens ministries.
- Demonstrate the value of learning by continuous reading of articles, periodicals and books as it relates to deepening the understanding of missiology and current practices and trends.
- Share general pastoral duties as a pastor at Crossings.
- Assist in maintaining the highest possible ministry standards and professional ethics in accordance with the goals, Purpose Statement, and Core Values of Crossings Community Church.
- Support the leadership of CCC, contributing to the spirit of unity among the staff and congregation.
- Represent Crossings in civic and ministry-related efforts as approved or requested.
- Other duties as assigned to accomplish the goals and needs of the ministries at Crossings.
Skills/Abilities Required for Position
- Place the Missions ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities.
- Maintain a mature commitment to Christ and a passionate belief in the vision of Crossings.
- Sensitivity and understanding of cross-cultural ministry and demonstrated experience spent serving across socio-economic boundaries and collaborating with diverse groups of people.
- Successful completion of the Perspectives Course within the first year of employment.
- Character traits include forward thinker, self-directed, teachable spirit, and a servants heart.
- Ability to plan ahead, organize and multitask in a deadline intensive environment.
- Ability to empower volunteers with meaningful involvement and build teams.
- Strong written and verbal skills in working with community leaders and developing partnerships.
- Personal flexibility to travel internationally.
- Moderate fluency in MS Office products.
- Possess a current unrestricted drivers license.
Spiritual Gifts
A mature walk with Christ exhibiting some combination of the following spiritual gifts: administration/organization, leadership, discernment, shepherding, service/helps, hospitality, creativity and encouragement.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.
- Three years progressive management and staff supervisory experience preferred.
- Ministry training/education and/or the desire to become an ordained Pastor preferred
- International travel experience preferred.
Physical Requirements for Position:
- Be able to stand for up to four hours, walk 1 mile, and be able to lift and carry 25-35 pound parcels for 500 feet.
- Manage well with international travel maneuvering groups through hot, humid climates and unsteady walking surfaces. Not prone to motion sickness.
- Has the ability for a flexible schedule as some evenings and weekend hours will consistently be required.
