Worship Pastor Position Description
Ministry Description
The Worship Pastor works in cooperation with other staff members and ministry teams of the church to carry out the vision in all areas of worship ministry. The position reports directly to the Vision Pastor and consults on plans and policies.
Areas of Responsibility
- Provide Leadership, direction and coaching in keeping with the Vision for all Worship Ministries
- Provide leadership and direction to weekly Worship Meetings
- Work with campus/service worship leaders, select hymns/choruses, special music and related liturgy for Sunday morning worship, subject to Teaching Pastor’s approval
- Responsibilities @ Colonial Park campus include music, hospitality and leadership at 8:00 and 9:30 worship services
- Oversight and direction of the choir.
- Supervise Handbell Director, worship leaders, vocalists & accompanists
- Scheduling of musicians and vocalists
- Oversight of the Worship budget
- Supervision of volunteer leaders for Hospitality teams and liturgists
- Perform other tasks as necessary
Skills Needed
- Musical skills with leading worship and ability to play either keyboard and/or guitar. Vocal abilities also required. Proficient in leading formal to contemporary worship styles.
- Interpersonal skill to generate excitement and build teams in a volunteer, team-led environment
- Proven experience of integrating music, drama, computer, video, sound, and lighting system technologies in the worship experience
- Ability to think creatively and be an innovator in the area of worship
- Fluency with appropriate technology, including Planning Center & Microsoft Office
3 Years full time worship/music experience within the last 5-10 year time period required.
