PURPOSE
The Student Ministries Director will contribute to Core’s mission of leading people to move one step closer to Jesus Christ every day by engaging students, parents, and volunteer leaders and connecting them to God through relevant services, events, and environments.
This person will champion the development of leaders in multiple ministry areas. They will be called to a dual-role which will be determined by the skillset and desires of the candidate.
STUDENT MINISTRIES RESPONSBILITIES (PRIMARY):
- Recruit, develop, equip, empower, & care for Student Small Group Leaders and Student Ministries volunteers to provide direction, growth & multiplication of their respective areas of ministry by maintaining open lines of communication & personal involvement
in their lives & ministries.
- Provide event coordination for Student Ministries, as well as spearheading First Impressions efforts for new students
- Maintain consistent communication with leaders and parents to clarify and connect them with the vision, direction, and upcoming events in Student Ministries.
- Develop large group communication skillset & contribute to communication efforts on the Main Stage during Sunday Morning Services
- Develop growth goals and long-term vision for Student Ministries
- Work closely with Lead Pastor & Staff to do everything necessary to impact our community and reach lost people
PLUS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
FAMILY LIFE LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES (SECONDARY – OPTION #1):
- Recruit, develop, equip, empower, and care for Small Group Leaders and other Children’s Ministries volunteers to provide direction, growth, and multiplication of their respective areas of ministry through maintaining open lines of communication and personal
involvement in their lives and ministries.
- Develop a strategy to partner with parents to communicate our belief – What happens at home is more important than what happens at church.
- Oversee check-in process, First impressions efforts for new families, and safety procedures
- Implement strategies to evaluate and upgrade ministry environments to ensure that they are efficient, effective, and deliver the desired outcomes.
IMPACT LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES (SECONDARY – OPTION #2):
- Oversee all Community Impact & Global Impact initiatives at Core Community Church
- Complete oversight of our annual “Community Impact Day” (project-based community service day)
- Develop a strategy to maintain our present Community Impact initiatives and be active in the community looking for more opportunities to care for our city
- Maintain and improve our Partnership with Guatemalan Care Point – Puerta de Esperanza – by continually increasing our child sponsorship & overseeing our annual mission trip to Care Point
- Complete oversight of our annual “Global Impact Day” (rice & beans packaging event)
- Work with Lead Pastor to develop a long-term vision for both Community & Global Impact
WORSHIP LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES (SECONDARY – OPTION #3):
- Assist Worship & Creative Arts Pastor with all worship, creative, and tech elements for adults and students
- Ability to lead all Band & Tech Volunteers thru rehearsals and services
- Work closely with Worship & Creative Arts Pastor to develop, train, and care for volunteers
- Ability to play an instrument and develop others on their instrument
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Supervisory:
- Direct, develop, lead, & train volunteers
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to lead people
- Ability to be a team player and adapt to changing circumstances
- Ability to make tough decisions and have tough conversations
- Ability to function within a team structure and work on tasks independently
- Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
- Display a driven personality & high work ethic
- Willingness to communicate in front of large groups & consistently develop this skill
- Willingness to constantly learn & receive feedback from leadership & volunteers
Experience & Education:
- College degree in related field desired (but not required).
- Internship or Staff experience in a fast-paced, contemporary church desired
(but not required)
- Experience working with Orange Model (partner w/ parents) & Curriculum desired
(but not required)
- Experience leading a worship band & developing musicians/vocalists (if applicable)
