Advent UMC is seeking a part-time Children’s Ministry Volunteer Coordinator to develop and lead an ongoing process designed to recruit and retain volunteers for our Children’s Ministry program.
The Children’s Ministry Volunteer Coordinator will work in concert with our Children’s Ministry Director, Pastors and Traditional Music Director towards our goal of offering an exciting and engaging program that nurtures children, from birth through 5th grade and their families, in the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic leader who is passionate about children as well as helping people connect to their faith through serving others.

Purpose: To develop and lead a system designed to recruit and retain volunteers who are responsible for nurturing children, from birth through 5th grade and their family, in the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Report to: Director of Children’s Ministry
Working Relationships: Director of Children’s Ministry, Children’s Council Leadership and Director of Traditional Music Ministry
Scope of Position: The Children’s Ministry Volunteer Coordinator will take a primary role in recruiting, on-boarding and scheduling volunteers.
Time Commitment: Part-Time 20 hours/week
Typical Duties:
Recruiting
Plan, coordinate and execute a volunteer recruitment strategy in collaboration with the Pastor, Director of Children’s Ministry, Director of Traditional Music Ministry and Children’s Council Leadership
Interact with people and communicate passionately about children’s ministry across all demographic groups within the church
Regularly maintain Sunday morning hours for recruitment and interaction with current and potential volunteers
On-boarding
Own and carry out efficient systems for volunteer application and placement - to include all required policies and procedures defined by the Church.
Partner with the Dir of Children’s Ministry in equipping new volunteers for service through regularly offered new volunteer orientation and other training as required.
Scheduling
Partner with Director of Children’s Ministry to“overstaff ” the volunteer schedule every weekend to set the Sunday morning ministry up for success
Ensure that volunteers know when they are scheduled to serve, understand their general responsibility and receive weekly updates and reminders
Maintain accurate volunteer database in Realm
Document volunteer trends and tracking serving consistency and recruitment progress week to week
Ensure each volunteer so feels well supported and appreciated as a vital member of the Ministry
Qualifications:
Has a passion for children and helping people become connected to the church.
Exhibit an unwavering commitment to growing personally in faith and help children grow in their faith as well.
Be a team player and dedicated to work as a part of a larger staff team.
Excellent written and verbal communication to large groups skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people
An empathy with volunteers and an understanding of their needs
The capacity to inspire and motivate others
The ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
Good organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks
Administrative and IT skills, and an ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports
A creative and flexible approach to people and work.
Ability to tactfully handle stressful and difficult situations.
Strong ethical standards; ability to create trust and integrity with co-workers, volunteers, and community personal
Regular and sustained worship attendance.
Experience:
Experience of working across different groups and developing links with other departments
Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers preferred.
Experience of managing or coordinating projects and volunteers
