One-Year Student Ministries Intern (South Campus) – Job Description
Overview:
The Student Ministries Intern position provides training and discipleship for a person who is seeking youth ministry as a calling. The Student Ministries Intern will be responsible for building and overseeing student ministries (Junior High and High School) at the South Campus of Central Peninsula Church. The candidate with be given a fantastic opportunity to design and build the youth program at a dynamic, multi-site church under the supervision of the Campus Pastor. This position is a full-time internship, 40 hours per week, and a one-year commitment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Regular programs/events
? Planning and coordinating Edge, Junior High, and High School weekly ministry
? Teaching and recruiting teachers
? Planning and coordinating Small Group Ministry
Meetings/Preparation
? Regular meeting with Campus Pastor
? Weekly campus staff meetings, and CPC-wide staff meetings
? Be available for other tasks that Campus Pastor may deem necessary
Leadership
? Recruiting, developing, and connecting with small group leaders
? Recruiting leaders to work with students
? Attendance and participation at the Student Ministry staff trainings 2-3 times a year.
? Connecting with students outside church activities and programs. This would include calling students, connecting with families, and attending outside activities with students such as sports, school and community events.
Education
? Read one book each month and discuss/present to staff team. (Book titles chosen in concert with the Campus Pastor).
? Complete one book/research paper per quarter (topics given by the Campus Pastor).
In Partnership with CPC staff:
? Special events and trips, service projects, day-long trips, weekend excursions, and week-long camps and retreats.
? Effective partnering and communication with parents
? Counseling students (in concert with CPC values and under the oversight of the Campus Pastor).
Physical Requirements
? The Student Ministries Intern will be required to go on camps, retreats and other venues that require him/her to perform essential physical tasks such as be able to walk on unpaved or gravel trails, sleep on the ground or in bunk beds, climb ladders or stairs, occasionally carry equipment and other items for these camps.
