Job Description Overview: The role of a teaching pastor is to effectively write and verbally deliver messages that are grounded in Scripture, rich in story and have high application to everyday life with the goal of Christ-centered life
transformation.
Status: Full-time Classification: Exempt
Team: Executive Reports To: Senior Pastor
Work Schedule: Monday – Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday and on-call as needed.
Overview of Job Duties (this is a working list and may be adjusted at any time by your manager):
- Share the speaking responsibilities for weekend services with the Senior Pastor and one other teaching pastor.
- Communicate messages in a dynamic, relevant and challenging way during assigned weekend services.
- Work in tandem with the teaching team to create and develop relevant messages and series that will facilitate the continued spiritual growth and maturity of the people of Eagle Brook Church.
- When called upon, teach effectively and with relevance in other ministry venues and settings.
- Additional ministry responsibilities will be assigned by the Senior Pastor or the Executive Pastor of Ministry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Education Required: Bachelor Degree in Ministry, Christian Studies, Communication or related field of study.
- Education Preferred: Master of Divinity, Master of Theology or MA in Biblical Studies, Christian Leadership or other related advanced degree.
- Genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Commitment to the Bible as the supreme authority for life and faith.
- Alignment with Eagle Brook Church’s 9 Core Beliefs and willing to fully embrace Eagle Brook’s mission to reach others for Christ.
- Meets biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9)
- Possesses the spiritual gifts of teaching and exhortation.
- 5+ years of related ministry, speaking and leadership experience.
- Commitment to long-term ministry with the church.
- Highly skilled communicator with strong platform/stage presence and demonstrated ability to engage listeners.
- Must be reliable, self-motivated and able to take initiative.
- Embraces growth, change, innovation and creativity
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
- Exhibits high emotional intelligence, situational awareness, self-awareness and humility.
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback as well as effectively deliver constructive feedback.
- Willingness to actively collaborate with other staff members in an inclusive, positive and constructive manner.
Training/Expectations:
- Complete EBC’s Pastoral Development training
- Become a member of Eagle Brook Church and attend regularly along with your family.
