The Board of GEMS Girls’ Clubs is searching for a qualified person to fill the role of Executive Director.

The mission of GEMS is to help bring girls into a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.

 

Vision

Our long range vision is to see girls around the world actively and enthusiastically expressing love for God and others – girls equipped, motivated, and passionately engaged in living out their faith.

 

History

GEMS Girls’ Clubs began in 1958 and has grown over the years to include some 900 clubs, 24,000 girls, and 5,300 women who serve as leaders or counselors within the ministry.  GEMS is a non-denominational ministry with curriculum based on the Reformed Perspective. Clubs are located throughout the United States, Canada, and Zambia primarily but are present in other countries as well.  The international headquarters/Service Center is located in Grand Rapids, MI.

 

General Job Description

The Executive Director is responsible to the GEMS Executive Board for directing the overall ministry.  Tasks include:

  • Planning and visioning for the future
  • Promotion of the ministry
  • Program development and expansion
  • Intra and inter organizational communication
  • Office management including staff hiring, supervision, and fiscal management
  • Leadership training
  • Editor-in-Chief of Publications
  • Advisor to Executive Board
  • Research and development
  • Ability to travel

 

Skills and Attitudes

The GEMS Executive Board is looking for a person of faith who models integrity in all walks of life to become its Executive Director; a leader who has the ability to work collaboratively and is able to identify and nurture the best in people.  Organizational skills will be necessary for managing the office.  This person must be visionary and motivational.  Their enthusiasm for the ministry must be aptly communicated both through public speaking and writing.  An adequate knowledge of budgeting and finances is required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Successful experience in budget administration and managing/leading staff

 

Assets

  • Familiarity with the GEMS Girls’ Club Ministry
  • Teaching background
