Hillside Christian Church is a non-denominational church communicating God’s Word in a creative and compelling way. Hillside is a place where many people have found new life. They believe that through God’s grace, forgiveness and healing can be found. They have seen lives changed, marriages restored, and hearts mended by Christ. In 2005, Tommy Politz was called as the Senior Pastor, bringing renewed vision and leadership which ushered in an era of unprecedented church growth and spiritual health within the staff and congregation. In December of 2006, the church moved to a new location at Hillside and Soncy in southwest Amarillo and changed its name to Hillside Christian Church. With a new name and new vision, Hillside was essentially a “church replant.”
Shortly after moving to this location, God began working through Tommy and the elders to lead Hillside to become a multi-site church. In 2009, Hillside launched its second and third campuses in Canyon, TX and Dalhart, TX. Hillside became a church with four locations in early 2011 when the former Amarillo South Church was adopted as a campus of Hillside. The mission of Hillside Christian Church is to love God as we lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. The vision is to reach the lost with the gospel of Christ in the Panhandle of Texas by continuing to build communities of faith – where people can come as they are and everyone feels encouraged to invite people who don’t know Jesus – throughout the region. Rather than growing in one location and building bigger buildings, Hillside aims to reach the unchurched in multiple locations. One church... multiple locations.
Hillside Christian Church is currently hiring two Worship Pastors who will join the Worship Arts Team of all six Hillside campuses. The West Campus opened in December of 2006 and is currently the largest Hillside campus with an average weekend attendance of 5,000-6,000.
Hillside Christian Church – West Campus is looking for a spiritually mature and experienced worship pastor to join the existing worship arts team. The primary function of this role will include weekly leadership from the platform in both the main auditorium and the midweek student venue (Epicenter/ECHO). The successful candidate will provide creative development and direction for services. The new Worship Pastor must have proven experience building teams as well as pastoring and developing volunteers.
The West Campus will be responsible for working with the Worship Arts Team Leader to plan and execute all weekend worship experiences as well as the midweek student worship expression. They will lead rehearsals on a weekly basis as well as regular service evaluation meetings. They must have proven leadership ability as they will lead the worship team's small group discussions as well as recruit, train, and coach volunteer instrumentalists and vocalists. The Worship Pastor will join other team members of Hillside Worship in songwriting and recording music for the church.
Amarillo is the largest city in the Texas Panhandle, a 26-county area that is bordered by New Mexico and Oklahoma. Here, the southern plains meet the desert. Amarillo is ideally located to be the center of commerce and activity for the region. The population was almost 200,000 as of the 2010 census. The city is known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas" (as the city takes its name from the Spanish word for yellow). Having both a low cost of living and one of the state’s lowest unemployment rates, Amarillo’s population keeps growing as well. The city boasts major economic strength from companies such as Bell Helicopter, one of the largest meat packing facilities in the US, multiple regional medical centers, Tyson Foods, and Pantex (the only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility in the country). Amarillo has an activity for everyone, from the outdoor enthusiast to the arts connoisseur to the western history buff. From canyons to cowboys, big steaks to big spaces, everything Texas is famous for is right in Amarillo.
