First Baptist Lafayette is a Southern Baptist Church located in downtown Lafayette, LA, the heart of cajun country. With about 4,000 members, pre-Covid attendance was over 1,000 each week, and has now exceeded that number. Fueled by an evangelism as the priority, the church has seen double digit growth for three years. An agressive building program is underway to accomodate this growth. We have both traditional and contemporary services, a strong Sunday School meeting on campus on Sunday mornings, discipleship, music and other activities on Wednesday evenings. James Pritchard has served as pastor for four years, following pastor tenures of 47 years and 15 years. Lafayette was voted the Happiest Town in America a few years back, and is a dynamic community with a strong emphasis in both technology and arts.
