First Church of God is located in NE Indiana in Whitley County, 20 miles west of Fort Wayne. Whitley County has a population of over 33,000 people. We draw congregants from Columbia City, Fort Wayne, South Whitley, Warsaw, Pierceton, and other surrounding cities. We are constantly re-imagining ourselves and looking for ways to innovate to join God in what He is doing today. Our weekly average attendance is 1100+.
Our passion is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We want to be a church for people to Land and Launch. Where anyone can land, and everyone is trained to launch to help heal a broken world.
We focus on
- Worship: We create environments of authentic worship where people want to participate and invite others to join in
- Family: We guide kids, engage students, and resource families to grow closer to Jesus through irresistible environments, authentic relationships, and helful teaching
- Missions: We train people to live lives that are on mission from day to day - we partner with organizations around the world that focus on leadership multiplication and reaching the least reached with the gospel
- Small Groups: We have small groups that meet for accountability, belonging, and care
- Leadership Development: We intentionally develop leaders in every area of our ministries in order to make room for exponential growth
We believe in what many know as “The Great Commission.” The last instruction Jesus gave to His disciples before He left this world was to take the message of hope to the world. We begin in our own backyard with local missions like our non-food pantry then begin to branch out regionally, for instance our support of the inner-city mission in Muncie called “Urban Light.” Our mission outreach to the world has included sending mission teams to such places as Thailand, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. First Church of God wants to be active in helping others find forgiveness of sin in Jesus Christ.
