About:
1. Congregation Profile: -We are a multi-cultural church made up of internationals (American, Canadian, French, Indian, Malay, Philipino, and others) and nationals. This mixture of cultures adds depth and richness to our worship and community. Our children attend a mixture of national, international, and Christian international schools and several are home-schooled. Because many in our congregation are expats in Jakarta for short-term work assignment, our congregation does experience change rather regularly every few years. However, the average number in our congregation on Sunday morning stays consistently between 150 - 170. 2. Brief church history -Jakarta International Baptist Church began as the English-speaking congregation of Kebayoran Baptist Church which was founded in 1961 by Southern Baptist missionaries. Both Indonesian and English-speaking congregations utilized the same facilities for a number of years until, due to over-crowding, JIBC, the English-speaking congregation, moved to several locations before settling in Kemang 7 where it currently holds its worship services. 3. Community profile -Jakarta is the capitol of Indonesia located on the northwest shore of Java. It is the largest city in Indonesia and currently the 6th largest city in the world. Many overseas companies have chosen to base branches of their business in Jakarta allowing for expats from all over the world to be stationed here for at least a few years. 4. Purpose Statement -The purpose of JIBC is to glorify God upwardly, inwardly and outwardly. 5. Our Statement of Faith: -Our Statement of Faith is based on the London Baptist Confession of Faith 1689 which can be found on our website. 6. Worship services -Our Sunday morning worship service runs from 10:45am - 12:00pm, which is preceded by our Sunday school hour running from 9:30 - 10:30am. We are currently in the process of creating care groups, which meet during the week in homes in various communities around Jakarta for a time of Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. 7. Current budget situation: -God has shown Himself more than faithful in providing for our needs as a local church, granting us provision beyond our budget.
