Position: Director of Children’s Ministry

Basic Function:
- The role of the Director of Children’s Ministry is to provide leadership, development, and direction for the Children’s Ministry staff and volunteer programming teams as it pertains to the vision, mission and strategy of all environments specific to Bethel
Family Ministry.
Job Description and Responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Committed Christ-follower who feels a call by God into full-time ministry
- Love for children and families
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
- Ability to build and lead volunteer teams
- Previous experience directing children’s ministry (preferred), or equivalent experience in childhood education
- Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Publisher), and the capacity to learn new software (Photoshop, Planning Center, others)
- Good understanding and skills with regard to multiple means of communication
- Ability to adapt creatively in response to a growing congregation
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all programming and ministry for children ages birth – 6th grade
- Choose and prepare curriculum for each program and each age level
- Create environments, activities, and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth
- Age appropriate classroom environments
- Clean, maintained atmosphere in all classrooms
- Recruit, train, schedule and lead team of Children’s Ministry Volunteers
- Sunday School Teachers
- Children’s Church Teachers
- Supervise the Child Care Supervisor
- Organize hospital visitation and follow-up for children and families of the church
- Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families
- Develop and manage the Children’s Ministry annual goals in accordance with Bethel’s overall mission
- Track expenditures and maintain budget pertaining to Children’s Ministry

- Track weekly attendance
- Attend weekly staff meeting to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness
- Support Bethel Church’s Mom2Mom ministry leadership
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor

Relationships:
- Reports to the Director of Worship and Family Ministry
- Performs the above responsibilities under the direction and supervision of the Director of Family Ministry
- Meets with the Senior Pastor for clarification of the vision for this ministry, strategic planning, and for guidance, prayer and support
- Evaluated annually by the Senior Pastor and Director of Family Ministry, with input from the SPRC liaison. (Questions or problems related to the job should be first discussed with the Senior Pastor)
- The SPRC will also be available to provide support and hear concerns.
- Supervises and directs Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers
- Receives support from other ministry staff
- Works closely with all areas of ministry within Bethel Church
Compensation:
- $13,000 salaried
- No insurance
- Two weeks vacation, to include two Sundays and Wednesdays (Youth trips/missions/camps are not counted as vacation, and costs are covered through children's ministry budget)
